Power Automate Fundamentals # 14: Usage of Range Function in Power Automate

Introduction:

In Power Automate, at times we need to have array with integers starting from the specified index for doing different operations in design of online exams or quizzes to provide random questions this function would be useful.  

Step 1:

Login to the required Power Apps environment using URL make.powerapps.com by providing username and password and click on Flows on the left-hand side as shown in the below figure.

Step 2:

After Step 1, Click on New Flow and select instant cloud flow and provide the trigger as Manually trigger a flow and click on Create as shown in the below figure.

Step 3:

After Step 2, name flow as Understanding Range Function and take compose function and provide step name as Generate Range of Integers and under inputs specify expression as

range(startIndex: integer, count: integer)

first parameter as starting index to generate array and second parameter as the count where an integer number can be given as shown in the below figure.

Step 4:

After Step 3, provide value of in the input values as

Inputs as range(6,7)

and click on ok / Update and save the flow as shown in the below figure.

Step 5:

After Step 4, save the flow and proceed to test and run it and you can see output as an array of integers with different values as shown in the below figure.

Note:

  1. Make sure to save and run the flow whenever you try expressions.
  2. As an example, I have considered this array, one can also use this range function in Apply to each action

Conclusion: In this way we can easily get array with integers starting from the specified index in Power Automate flow.
